This pottery is handmade; we are one of the few manufacturers of this type of clay that is harvested off the river bottom in Vietnam. It's high fired ensuring to bear in the toughest weather conditions and to be durable. The color of products look like a very dark chocolate brown and the finish is like egg shell, but the color varies with each pot, depends on the location where it is located on the kiln during the firing process. Flower pots - choosing the right flower pot

There are many advantages to growing plants in garden planters or flower pots. For renters it means that cherished plants can be moved from house to house. Home owners can grow unusual or tropical plants inside in winter and transfer the flower pots onto the veranda during the warmer months. It's possible to grow an entire landscape with trees, shrubs, annuals, herbs and even a few vegetables in flower pots and larger garden planters.

Whilst flower pots are convenient, plants often fail to thrive because of lack of understanding of their requirements. Whether you grow plants in flower pots indoors or outdoors, the same basic requirements are necessary. They all require light, moisture and nutrients for continued growth. And to complicate matters more, different plants have varying degrees of light, moisture and nutrient requirements – which explains why cactus die from over-watering and ferns from drying out! Pot plants are growing in restricted conditions and are entirely dependent on you for all their needs – unlike garden plants which can send their roots deeper for extra water or benefit from the natural mulch of falling leaves. By understanding the individual plant requirements and providing the right care and conditions, the plants in your flower pots will thrive and provide you with immense satisfaction!

It's important that you choose the right flower pots for your needs.

Flower pots - things to take note of :

• The surrounding area – are you landscaping a courtyard, the veranda, the backyard. Small flower pots in the middle of a lawn would look out of place. Consider how you want the final look of the whole area. Do you want the garden planter to match the colour of the bricks of the house? Is the house an old style cottage? Do you want an oriental/Asian theme to the garden?
• The plant requirements – some plants prefer crowded root spaces eg ferns and African violets, in which case you would opt for smaller flower pots. Other plants like trees and climbing plants like room for their roots to spread so a big or tub would be more suitable.
• The location – perhaps you are dealing with a balcony and would like to hang plants off the handrails in which case you would opt for window box planters or deck rail planters
• How much time you want to put into

  maintenance - unsealed terracotta flower pots dry out faster than plastic flower pots so if you are someone who is likely to forget daily maintenance chores, choose plastic flower pots or sealed ceramic flower pots You may even opt for the self-watering flower pots that are available nowadays to make things easier for you.

• The plant itself - Plants with dramatic foliage or flowers go better with simple flower pots so reserve the more ornate flower pots for ferns and other less audacious specimens
• The position of the flower pot – if it is facing a hot westerly position, it may be better to choose a plastic flower pot instead of a terracotta one unless you are dealing with succulents or cacti which love the heat.

Some extra tips when picking flower pots:

Flower pots are useful as highlights – you could add 2 large garden urns on either side of your front door for dramatic effect. Alternatively a beautifully crafted glazed flower pot in the middle of a courtyard would be an immediate focal point which would draw the eye. Sometimes you don’t even need plants in them, the flower pot speaks for itself.

Choose one type of flower pot in graded sizes eg concrete planters, terracotta pots, wooden planters.

Use the nesting principle – ie one big flower pot and 4 smaller ones surrounding it.
